Carlo Ancelotti comes under Criticism

Carlo Ancelotti was put under heavy criticism and pressure as well as put to blame for Angel Di Maria’s transfer from Real Madrid to Manchester United.

The Premier League club had to offload £59.7 million in order to sign the Argentinean midfielder but even though Real Madrid received such a high fee for Di Maria, the transfer was not supported by the fans of the Spanish club as they insisted in saying that the player was invaluable after becoming the top assist maker in the Spanish League in the previous season.

In the last season of the Spanish League, Angel Di Maria created 17 goal-scoring opportunities for Real Madrid and this is the highest amount out of the entire league. There is no doubt whatsoever that Angel Di Maria was going through a superb form and this attracted the interest of Manchester United as they were willing to pay £59.7 million to sign him to Old Trafford.

After having sold a player that was such an important figure for Real Madrid, it came as a surprise to many fans of the club to see that he was transferred to Manchester United.

Carlo Ancelotti has now revealed that there were a number of reasons on why he gave the green light in relation to Angel Di Maria’s move to Manchester United and Ancelotti claimed that the Argentinean midfielder had problems not only inside but also outside of the pitch as he used to lose his control on certain occasions.

“Di Maria could take matches by storm with his energy, but he also used to lose control sometimes, misplacing important passes,” Carlo Ancelotti told the media as he responded to questions as to why Angel Di Maria was sold.

The arrival of the Colombian midfielder James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos forced some other players in the squad of Carlo Ancelotti on them having to be released and one of those players was Angel Di Maria.

Ancelotti praises Benzema

Carlo Ancelotti has praised striker Karim Benzema after the Frenchman helped Real Madrid secure a much needed win over Barcelona in the latest El Clasico. Madrid came into the match trailing behind table leaders Barcelona by four points, which was always going to be huge advantage in Spain. They needed a victory in order to keep their title hopes alive. The prospect of an El Clasico victory looked highly unlikely in the opening exchanges after Neymar gave Barcelona a very early advantage. However, three goals in response from Madrid helped them move one point behind Barcelona.
Karim Benzema was one of the scorers on the night, as he helped the club overcome the absence of Gareth Bale who was missing due to injury. Benzema may have scored only four league goals this season, but manager Carlo Ancelotti praised his performance by saying that he is on top form. Cristiano Ronaldo, who has also been an impressive scoring form this season, managed to get one from the spot. He has now taken his league tally to 16 goals, which is a huge distance ahead of Neymar’s nine in the league this season. Madrid also became the first team to score past Barcelona this season.
“I value the effort of the team. We didn’t lose our heads after Neymar’s goal and all went well. Isco’s performance was impressive but today we could talk about Benzema, Isco, Cristiano or James [Rodriguez]. It’s hard to talk about a star in this match but Benzema is on fire. The victory is important as we defeated a great team and achieved our objective of getting closer to Barcelona in La Liga. It’s not easy to play Barcelona. We fought so hard and the match was so lose,” said Ancelotti. The club had come into the encounter on the back of a 3-0 win over Liverpool in the Champions League.

ROma Looking to difficult Champions League

Champions League returns to Roma after several years and manager Rudi Garcia says that the players should be dictating the game from the start in order to get the three points. Their return to the competition has been met with a very tough group, as they’ll be coming up against teams like Manchester City and Bayern Munich along with CSKA Moscow. However, the opening game against the Russians presents a great opportunity for Roma to start the campaign in a positive fashion. This is extremely vital given that they are unlikely to be favourite for three points in the matches against Bayern and City.
Garcia has made wonders at Roma in his short tenure at the club. After taking charge only last summer, he managed to get the club back into the Champions League and almost won the title by beating Juventus. This summer, Roma may not have made substantial signings in the transfer market, but they have replaced the previous that they have lost and have also brought in new signings like Ashley Cole. The former Chelsea defender brings wealth of experience to the team and is expected to start against CSKA.
Roma have won both of nearly matches and are one of the three teams to have done so. In fact, there yet to concede a goal in these matches. “There are no weak sides in the Champions League. CSKA have much more European experience than we do. We need to be on our game tomorrow and make sure we do the right things at the key moments of the match. CSKA have their qualities and weaknesses. We’ll do everything we can to impose our game on them. CSKA are dangerous on the counter [attack] and have strong defenders who are good in the air,” said Garcia ahead of the match.

Spurs Looking To Sign Yedlin

Tottenham Hotspur is looking to sign the American defender DeAndre Yedlin. They have offered Seattle Sounders a transfer fee of close to 3 million Pounds for the 21-year old player and the MLS club is believed to be going accept that offer.
Yedlin had been mighty impressive with his speed playing for the Yanks in Brazil and it’s from there that he came on the radar of the top clubs around the world. Apart from the Spurs, the other English club Liverpool, while, the Italian club Roma are also said to be interested in him.
Even if Yedlin gets signed by Tottenham during this transfer window, he would not join the club immediately. He would be completing the ongoing MLS season with his current club Seattle Sounders before arriving at White Hart Lane at the start of next year.
A few days back, when Yedlin was asked about the possibility of him moving to the Spurs camp, he had said, “It’s not completed as yet. My agent is dealing with all those stuffs and I am letting him do that.”
Meanwhile, Yedlin’s compatriot Kasey Keller who played for Tottenham for 4 years in the last decade has advised the young defender not to go to the London based club if he is not guaranteed to get playing time there.
Talking to the reporters yesterday, Keller, the former American shot stopper, said, “The important thing for the young players like DeAndre is to play because it’s the only way they are going to progress. They can’t do that sitting on the bench.”
“If DeAndre reckons that he would be playing every week there (at Tottenham), then it’s fine, but, if he is not sure about it, then I would not suggest him to make this move.”

Rodriguez Expected To Move To Real Madrid

It is highly expected that World Cup star James Rodriguez will complete his mega money move to Real Madrid in the next few weeks. Rodriguez has been subjected to intense transfer speculation after being one of the best players in the World Cup 2014. Based on his exploits on, Colombia reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup where they were unlucky to be knocked out by Brazil. Rodriguez also finished the World Cup as the Golden Boot winner. After recently moving to Monaco for around £ 30 million, he could be set for another move in his career.

Several top clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester United have been showing interest in the player. So far, Rodriguez has been tightlipped on the transfer rumours, but reports from Spain have stated that he is close to completing the £ 63 million move to Madrid. This would be a major disappointment for Manchester United and Louis van Gaal, who would have been hoping to build a team around him. At just 22 years of age, Rodriguez has the capability of play anywhere across the front three. For Colombia, he was used as the central figure in the absence of Radamel Falcao.

A move for £ 63 million will make Rodriguez one of the world’s most expensive players. Spanish tabloid AS has also claimed that the player has already agreed a yearly contract in the region of £ 8 million. Even though this figure is dwarfed by the earnings of players like Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo, it would still be a handsome reward for the youngster. He clearly has a long way to go in football and Madrid appear to have sneaked ahead of the competition to secure him. This was important especially after failing to get Luis Suarez, who has decided to join archrivals Barcelona.

Real Madrid Prepares Offer For Suarez

Luis Suarez experienced a stunning season with Liverpool as he scored 31 goals, he finished the campaign by being the top goal-scorer of the previous season with a series of consistent performances each week and this has attracted the eyes of many European clubs who want to sign the Uruguayan into their squad.

Real Madrid is preparing an offer in the region of €70 million in order to lure Luis Suarez away from Anfield Road and into the Santiago Bernabeu during this summer. It has already been confirmed that the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez and the head coach Carlo Ancelotti have met held reunions between themselves and came to an agreement that Suarez joining Real Madrid would be a huge benefit and they will indeed attempt to sign the Uruguayan forward.

Liverpool will be competing in the Champions League in the next season as well as the Premier League, which are going to be the 2 major tournaments that Brendan Rodgers faces in a few months and he wants to keep Luis Suarez in the team in order to have a significantly high chance of performing well in both leagues.

When Suarez was asked about the interest and potential offer that Real Madrid will launch, the Liverpool star replied by stating that his only focus is on the 2014 World Cup.

“My head now is focused on the World Cup. My agent tells me what’s there. It’s more speculation than reality.” Suarez replied.

Brendan Rodgers has no intentions of selling Luis Suarez but the cash injection that arrives from selling the former Ajax player could be used to strengthen other positions in the squad. Real Madrid does not want to fall behind in this summer transfer window which is why they have turned their attention towards Luis Suarez.

Ronaldo Injury Makes Madrid Suffer

Real Madrid have been dealt a huge blow after Cristiano Ronaldo had to be taken of following a calf injury in the 1-1 draw with Real Valladolid during the weekend. Apart from this result being a crushing blow for Real’s title aspirations, the injury to Ronaldo could also prove to be serious. The Champions League final is just a few weeks away and Ancelotti will want his best players available for the match against Atletico Madrid.

Ronaldo is one of the best players in the world and he has been an immense contributor for Madrid this season. He has just passed the 50 goal tally for this campaign. He felt a calf strain after just 10 mins against Valladolid. Ancelotti, though, confirmed after the match that the player has suffered a major injury and he is likely to have the superstar back in action before the end of the season. He could, however, missed the next two matches in the la Liga since they are likely to be of no use for Madrid.

Their dropped points against Valladolid has proved very costly and they are now outsiders for the title with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid still in contention. Ancelotti said that he does not want to give up on the title now.

“We will see over the coming days. We don’t think Cristiano Ronaldo has a big problem. He was not very comfortable but there was no tear. We did pull everybody back but conceded a goal from a set-piece. It was not about a lack of concentration even if Iker (Casillas) did have two chances to save it. Winning the league will be very difficult, but the mathematical possibility is still there. We must continue moving forwards and win our two remaining league games,” said the former Milan and Chelsea manager.
