According to Defensa Central, Getafe have opened negotiations with Real Madrid to secure the signing of 22-year-old midfielder Antonio Blanco in the ongoing transfer window. Getafe have already raided Real Madrid this summer once for the signing of striker Borja Mayoral, who joined the Azulones permanently after spending the second half of the last season on loan at the club. But, Quique Sanchez Flores’ side are seemingly not done shopping at Real Madrid.

Recent reports had indicated that Getafe had their sights trained on young Real Madrid striker Juanmi Latasa and talented attacking midfielder Sergio Arribas. It now seems that they have added Antonio Blanco to their list of targets as well and are in talks to sign the midfielder from the reigning Spanish and European champions.

Antonio Blanco has been at Real Madrid for almost a decade and has enjoyed a steady rise through the youth ranks of the club. The 22-year-old is currently the captain of Raul Gonzalez’s Castilla outfit, for whom he has scored twice and set up three more goals in 64 appearances. The young midfielder also has six senior appearances to his name, having made his debut in April last year.

A player with vast potential, Blanco is held in the highest of regard by Real Madrid. They see him as a vital part of the Castilla team pushing for promotion to La Liga 2 from the RFEF First Division. However, at the same time, an exit this summer is not off the table, with there being plenty of interest in his services.

Indeed, Rayo Vallecano and Girona have expressed an interest in his services but Getafe have taken a step further and opened talks with Real Madrid to explore the possibility of signing Blanco. The 22-year-old’s contract with Los Blancos runs until the summer of 2025, and discussions have taken place about a possible loan deal or even a permanent transfer with a buyback clause inserted.
