Real Madrid midfielder Rafael van der Vaart looks likely to miss the rest of the season after suffering a hamstring injury at Real Zaragoza.

The Holland international tore a hamstring in his left leg and his recovery time has been estimated at two to three weeks which, with just four games remaining in the Primera Division, will more than likely rule him out for the rest of the campaign.

However, Madrid’s head of medical services, Carlos Diez, has not entirely ruled out a return for the 27-year-old in the final match of the season against Malaga.

He told Marca: “Van der Vaart can reduce the time (out) depending on developments.”
